Galvan Protects Duke Energy’s New Asheville Combined-Cycle Power Plant From Corrosion
Duke Energy is building a new 560-megawatt combined-cycle natural gas power plant at the company’s existing Asheville-area site in Skyland, NC. Construction is underway now and the new plant is scheduled to begin serving customers in late 2019.
Galvan Industries is providing hot-dip galvanizing for pipe bridge and other steel components at the new plant, protecting it against rust for decades to come.
The new plant will replace coal-fired power generation at the site as part of Duke Energy’s Western Carolinas Modernization Project. The new power plant and related electric transmission projects are expected to be completed by 2020.
