Officials from the town of Harrisburg, N.C. and the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation recently presented Galvan Industries with a $5,000 grant from Duke Energy to support the development of a new 31,000-square-foot facility at the company’s plant in Harrisburg.

The grant was presented to Galvan on Monday, October 13. Construction is already underway on the $2 million project. It is expected to be complete in early 2015. See Gallery.

Prior to the grant from Duke Energy, the Harrisburg Town Council approved economic development incentives for the project. Those incentives provide a combination of property tax and water/sewer fee rebates which will be paid out over five years.

Harrisburg Mayor Steve Sciascia and Economic Development Director Anna Lu Wilson presented the grant, along with Harrisburg Town Manager Mike Rose and Margie Bukowski, Vice President of the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation (EDC). Samantha Grass of the Cabarrus EDC also attended.
