Galvan Industries has been an approved supplier of hot dip galvanizing to the North Carolina Department of Transportation many years. We’ve galvanized Z-piles for retaining walls, and pipe piles for many highway and Interstate projects. We’ve demonstrated our value-added service capabilities by successfully adding cutting teeth to H-piles for a highway improvement project.
So when the NCDOT needed steel pipe piles to be capped on one end with steel plate for bridge supports, we were ready. Our company’s in-house welding and cutting capabilities were vetted by the state and met NCDOT requirements.
We first hot-dip galvanized the 55 foot long, 18-inch diameter pipe piles and then welded the half inch steel plate in-house to perfectly fit the end of the pipe. The work was inspected and approved by NCDOT. The project was completed without shipping materials to an outside fabricator, saving time and money.
