Galvan Industries is providing hot dip galvanizing for handrails and other steel elements for the reconstruction of the American Legion Memorial Stadium located on the historic site in Charlotte, NC where it was originally constructed in 1936. The galvanized steel elements will be rust-free and maintenance-free for decades to come.

Memorial Stadium is an important landmark in Charlotte, built to honor Mecklenburg County veterans who fought in World War I.

The project includes the complete demolition and reconstruction of the stadium with a playing field meant to host professional and amateur sporting events from soccer and lacrosse to football. The new facility will have the flexibility to also host civic events like concerts, band competitions, civic gatherings, and more. The total capacity for the stadium will be 12,000 spectators.

“Galvan is very happy to have been selected to work on this significant historical project,” said Laurens Willard, president of Galvan Industries, Inc. “We’ve been a part of the Charlotte-area business community for more than 60 years, ourselves. We appreciate the value of history and building for the future.”
