Primary purpose of position The main functions of this position are to maintain the electrical equipment and operating systems in the facility. This is done during continuous walkthroughs throughout the entire facility and the surrounding area. This is a fast pace environment very high demands. 

Reporting Relationship Position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager / The Plant Manager, or other in-direct supervisors, who may also provide work instruction or direction.

Hours of Duty A typical shift for this position is a 12 hour shift. (2-2-3) from 7p-7a – Training M-F 7a to 3:30pm.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform all required operations to install, maintain, diagnose problems and make necessary repairs to machines to assure efficient operating condition for maximum availability and production needs.

– Test and repair equipment and adjust, replace or repair damaged electrical mechanisms or parts, reassemble and test out machine. Run machine through operation to assure proper operation to production requirements and specifications.

– Move and install motors, heating, minor and major electrical control equipment and systems.

– Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor.

– Work with and assist other maintenance mechanics as required.

– Perform preventative maintenance duties.

– Perform general buildings and grounds maintenance as required.

– Maintain work area in a clean, safe and orderly condition.

– Follow established company rules and regulations and safety precautions

– Understand, maintain and perform work according to quality and environmental standards.

– Operate a forklift

– Operate a Man lift and be able to work in elevated situations for long periods of time.
– Lead and execute projects/maintenance activities.

– Additional Skills/Tasks may be added to meet the business need.

Safety/Appearance:

– Safely operate and Maintain all Maintenance Tools and Equipment.
– Additional Skills/Tasks may be added to meet the business need.

Repair and Maintain the following Systems:

-Perform Preventive Maintenance; Repair, Replace, Rebuild Motors, Hoist and controls, Valves, and all Process Equipment.

-Proficient in using hand, power and shop tools.

-Read and interpret flow sheets, blue prints, vendor specifications and drawings.

-Process Equipment assembly and installation.

-Equipment diagnostics, troubleshooting and problem solving.

Communications:

-Complete Maintenance Inspection Logs and PM Records.

-Peer and Management Information Sharing.

-Team Meeting Participation.

Project Management: -Lead and execute projects/maintenance activities. This person may be responsible for planning, laying-out and performing various difficult and unusual trade duties to install, analyze, troubleshoot, repair, modify and maintain complex machines.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

-Must have a high school diploma or GED. Comfortable troubleshooting electrical and equipment problems.

-Ability to read and follow equipment manufacturer’s manuals.

-Ability to spot problems or potential problems and take initiative to correct them.

-Comfortable with details.

-Basic verbal communication skills. Basic report writing skills

Job Requirements
-Have a minimum of 1 year experience in electrical maintenance, working within continuous process production systems.

-Preference will be given to individuals with 3 phase motor, compressor and hoist/crane maintenance experience.

-Any employment must not have been severed due to involuntary reasons other than forced reduction or layoff.

-Shift work experience preferred but not required.

-Successful candidates will be tested and interviewed for: Electrical, Mechanical, and numerical aptitude; space visualization and perceptual speed; communication skills. Candidates must be safety conscious, responsible individuals who have:

-Electrical skills including reading blueprints, schematics, drawings and using a multi-meter.

-Hydraulic and pneumatic understanding and skills.

-The ability to use shop tools such as the drill press, grinder and threading machine, and be able to do basic welding.

-Solid trouble shooting and problem solving skills.

-The ability to work shift work including nights, weekends or holidays, based on demand and a 12-hour shift schedule.

  • Outdoor environment may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and / or humidity.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check.
